The labour market of Berlin-Brandenburg has the highest percentage of highly-qualified specialised labour in all of Germany. At 28 per cent, the percentage of university, polytechnics and technical college graduates is clearly higher than the national average of 24 percent. Germany’s capital region picks up points in a European comparison too - see graphic below.

Seven universities, as well as 21 polytechnics and colleges with 180,000 students, ensure highly qualified new young executives in the region. You will be sure to find your future skilled workers among the some 19,000 annual graduates. The institutions of higher learning in the region are internationally oriented: 40 per cent of the students at the Europauniversität Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder) and more than 25 per cent at the Brandenburg Technical University at Cottbus come from abroad. The Free University of Berlin and the Humboldt University at Berlin fill top spots in Germany for their number of visiting foreign scientists. Unique across Europe is the ESCP-EAP European School of Management in Berlin, which offers international degree programmes transnationally. Young international managers are also trained at the interdisciplinary ESMT European School of Management and Technology.

The expertise, experience and language capacity of Berliners and the Brandenburg population will help you to open up new markets. People from over 180 countries live in the German capital region. Employees are exceptionally trained, motivated, flexible and internationally competitive. A qualified workforce is also available in Berlin-Brandenburg - and is available to you in almost every profession and trade.

The labour costs, when a location comparison is done, can be found in a group with Japan, Italy and Spain, whereas the labour costs in West Germany are at the top internationally following Norway and Denmark (see chart).
