Infrastructure
>> Cutting-edge infrastructure
The trans-European transport routes intersect in Berlin-Brandenburg. Germany's capital region is excellently connected to the national transport routes by its modern, well-developed motorways, rail and water route networks and the new Berlin main train station, as well as three international airports. Berlin-Brandenburg has over 856 km of motorways at its disposal, 2,000 km of water routes and 3,400 rail kilometres in all directions. You will be able to reach all important European markets from here in one day's journey by lorry.
In eastern Germany, companies benefit from the modernisation measures that were implemented after Germany’s reunification. As a result, cutting-edge quality is to be found in major parts of the region’s infrastructure. Since 1991 alone, more than 11,000 km of roads and 5,000 km of rails have been modernised. Starting in 2011, the new Berlin-Brandenburg International BBI airport will expand the offer for Eastern Europe and Asia in particular.
Not to be forgotten is that the data super-highway is already reality in the capital region. All German and international network operators make sure connections are at most rapid and highest levels. Berlin-Brandenburg has the largest digital communications network in Germany at its disposal.
